Anyone who thinks hiking poles are reserved only for older generations is greatly mistaken. The handy poles are a real asset on longer tours – and that's completely independent of your age! They provide you with maximum surefootedness, stability, and ensure optimal relief for muscles and joints on all your paths.

Even in rough terrain and with heavy luggage, hiking poles improve your performance. Why? Simply because poles reduce the effort for you and optimize your stride. Just give it a try. Bet you'll never leave the house without hiking poles again?

What types of hiking poles are there?

There are two types of hiking poles: folding poles and telescopic hiking poles. As the name suggests, folding trekking poles are simply unfolded before use. So they are quickly and easily ready for use when needed. The trick: With just a few adjustments, you can adjust these models seamlessly to your height. If you don't need your poles for a while, they can be conveniently stored in a backpack due to their compact size.

Telescopic hiking poles have been a staple in hiking and ski tours since the 70s. Due to their excellent stability, they are mainly suitable for tours that demand a lot from you and the poles.

What is the difference between a hiking pole and a trekking pole?

With all the information in magazines and forums, the question quickly arises: What is the difference between a hiking pole and a trekking pole? The answer is quite simple: There is none. 'Hiking pole' is just another word for 'trekking poles'.

What materials are used for our hiking poles?

At Alpin Loacker you will find hiking poles made of carbon or aluminum. Our carbon hiking poles offer you maximum stability despite the ultra-light material with maximum vibration protection. Especially with folding poles, carbon provides more rigidity and extends the lifespan of the poles under heavy use. If you always expect top performance from your trekking poles, you should opt for our models made of shatterproof aircraft aluminum.

How do I choose the right hiking pole for my needs?

To find the right hiking pole, first ask yourself: Do you want to use your hiking poles for easy or challenging tours? Should your equipment be easy to store? So many questions... The following criteria shed light on the darkness and help you make a choice:

The weight:

As you know, the weight of your hiking pole depends on the material. Since we use only carbon and aluminum, all our models are characterized by a low weight. This is essential. After all, your hiking poles shouldn't slow you down but support you. And our ultra-light hiking poles achieve this effortlessly.

The grip:

The grip must provide you with optimal grip and good handling on every trail. That's why all our hiking poles are equipped with cork grips. They are

The Attachments

No trail is the same as another. But whether it's mud, scree, asphalt, or snow, our pole baskets always offer you good performance. The package includes four different attachments. They are non-slip and guarantee you perfect grip with maximum cushioning. Our attachments are made of vulcanized rubber, making them abrasion-resistant and durable.

Which hiking pole attachments are suitable for which surface?

Asphalt attachments are specifically designed for use on hard surfaces. They protect the tip of your hiking pole from abrasion. In the mountains, however, you should not use asphalt attachments. They do not provide you with the necessary grip.

Instead, use your poles on dry mountainous terrain without rubber pads. To prevent the pole tip from sinking into scree, you can also screw on the mud attachments in the mountains. These are also suitable, as the name suggests, for use on sand, soil, and in mud.

Nordic walking attachments ensure maximum speed by making it easier for you to walk quickly.

Snow baskets can be used for snow hikes as well as for skiing and snowboarding.

How long is the lifespan of a hiking pole?

Unfortunately, this question cannot be answered generally. The lifespan of your hiking pole naturally also depends on usage. Since quality is a top priority at Alpin Loacker, our trekking poles last for many years with proper use.

Can the hiking poles be adjusted to body size?

Yes, all models are individually adjustable. So you can adjust the right length for your hiking poles.
